We arrived in sunny Ostrava after a very efficient flight from Prague and spent the next week primarily encouraging the Roznov ministry team and fledgling church in how to reach out effectively into their local community and fulfill their vision for the town. We met with various expressions of the Apostolic Church in Roznov which is a church planting project from the ‘mother’ church in Valasske Mezirici (Val Mez for short!) which began in January of this year. They have a vision to see church planted throughout the Walachian region of Czech and already have a work in Vsettin and this new venture is a step of faith in obedience to the calling that Roman and his wife Marcie feel upon their lives.

Serbia Mission Report

Our church has had links with churches in Serbia for several years and our minister has made regular trips to the region and so a Spearhead tent mission was a natural and exciting extension of that work.

While we were flying into Budapest ready for our minibus journey into Serbia, the Spearhead lorries were already working their way back from Bulgaria; laden with equipment, parting gifts and a hefty share of testimonies of what God had been doing there.

Take Hold Of That for which Christ took hold of you By Tim Grant

I have been on a journey ever since I became a Christian to fulfil the purpose that God has for my life. I remember moments after discovering that there really is a God being impacted by the thought that if there is a God then there must be a purpose for every one of our lives and I had better find out what His purpose was for mine and seek to fulfil it. Wouldn't it be awful to come to the end of your life and discover that you never really fulfilled the purpose for which God put you here on earth?

I don’t think I can imagine anything more desperate than standing before my Lord and Saviour and having to say, “Sorry, I never really understood what it was that You wanted me to do”.

Bulgaria Mission Report 2007

So it was the end of my time on the ‘Year Team’ and time for a mission trip to complete the experience! We joined with Spearhead’ to go on a mission they were running to the Roma Gypsies in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. As well as the group of 12 of us from the ‘Year Team’ we joined with people from KC21 Aldershot and ‘Living Waters’ Church in Clevedon, King’s Church in Poole, and some others as well as four lads from Tajikistan who taught break dancing to the Gypsies. So a total of 28 of us headed off to Plovdiv with a strong sense that God had gone before us and prepared the way. As a team we were expecting great things from God and ready to do great things for God. We were working with a lovely couple called Craig and Milena Sibthorpe who do an amazing work with the Roma Gypsy people in Bulgaria. The Roma Gypsies are very much looked down upon by the Bulgarian people and treated badly. Many of the people are into stealing, prostitution, drink and drugs. A people very much on God’s heart and in need of His presence in their lives.

Bulgaria Mission Report 2006

The evangelism with Tim and his team, far exceeded our wildest dreams with an average of 30 folk getting saved each night in 11 meetings. We were based in 2 villages but used coaches to transport people in from another 6 or so. Twice we had crowds near 700 people. Many were healed, filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke in other tongues. There were loads of healings. Over 50 kids made Jesus Lord in the childrens meetings. We gave over 800 Bulgarian edition "Welcome to the family books away” for follow up. Well that’s the statistics here’s some emotion:- Tim drove 3 days none stop to get to us and did the same back. He put up and took down the tent twice. Plus preached most nights during the two weeks. I think he will go in to Roma history as the big strong white tent preacher that drove his lorry from England to share the love of God with them!
