Projects in Uganda (Kingscare)

Training a Doctor

In October 2006 I went to Wabigalo, a township in Kampala, Uganda, as part of a mission team led by Tim and Kim. As well as it being a great trip with many saved and healed, our hearts were greatly touched by the number of young children, many of them AIDS orphans, who the local church, R.E.D. Ministries, had taken into their homes and with whom they were sharing what little they had. On our return Tim launched a campaign for sponsorship of these children via the charity Kingscare and by the time of our return in April 2007, 35 children were being individually sponsored for education and home support. Seeing these children, now smartly dressed, better fed and learning to read, was both overwhelming and humbling.

Child Sponsorship

The Uganda Child Sponsorship project is designed to ensure that children in Uganda are able to attend school and receive a good education.

The children come from extremely poor families or are aids orfans. Many children cannot attend school because their families cannot afford to buy items such as boots and exercise books. Without these, children will be sent home and soon drop out of the system.

Sponsorship costs just £15 per month.

Kingscare is working with Silvia Pinkney in a village near Jinja. She works with around 120 children and young people and Joel Amonde in Wabigalo, Kampala working with 36 children mainly aids orphans both are helping the children to be able to attend school and receive a good education.
